Local shops, pubs, restaurant, and beaches (including the secluded Helvick cove) are all within walking distance and the bustling market town of Dungarvan with its award-winning restaurants lies 8 miles away.

Helvick Head is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) and its numerous trails attract walkers and birdwatchers with its cliffs offering nesting sites for seabirds including choughs and shag, and other species such as razorbill, peregrine falcon, black-legged kittiwake, and black guillemot regularly spotted.

The Ring peninsula is the only area on Irelands south-east coast where Irish (Gaeilge) is still spoken.
