No 1 Chapel Row, Ardmore, Waterford

No 1 Chapel Row or Cul Na Scoile, (behind the school) is an Ardmore Gem. Named by its present owners when they acquired, what was then a derelict site in 2006 is very aptly named. The area immediately in front of the property was in fact the site of the old national school in Ardmore which was built in 1878. The old school was sadly demolished shortly after the new school was opened in Monea in 1955.

When they purchased the property they wanted to maintain the roof line of what was once a very attractive row of fishermen cottages.

When they acquired the property they engaged the services of Sabina Wittmann of the e-Project Architectural practice in nearby Dungarvan, whose flair and imagination maximised every inch of the available site.

The property was built from scratch by another local construction company Terra-Nua from Dungarvan in 2008. This exclusive property in the award winning beautiful village of Ardmore has been complemented on by the National Tidy Towns Judges for its sympathetic addition to the landscape of the village.

From the outside what appears to be a very small compact seaside cottage, opens up to what can only be described as a wow factor. On entering the property via the traditional half door, the wheelchair friendly hallway has a large double bedroom to one side, with separate access to the paved patio area, which is a real sun trap. In the hallway there are, concealed spaces which contain in, one a washing machine, the other the controls for the solar panels, and the other a small cloak room and the heating manifolds for the underfloor heating. On the opposite side we have another double bedroom with walk in ward robe and next door the main bathroom complete with power shower and full size bath.

We then enter the large living room area with bi-folding patio doors which open right back to create this inside outside feel to the house. There is a multi-fuel blacksmith stove in the corner of the room, to compliment the underfloor heating throughout the property.

Adjoining this, separated from the living room and yet still part of it is the fully fitted modern kitchen complete with all the mod cons one has come to expect whether it is for that lifestyle week-end home or for that long summer holiday just across from the local Ardmore Beach.

Off the kitchen area is the ensuite master bedroom; like the other areas this also has separate access to the beautifully paved patio area. This is ideal for a barbecue on those balmy sunny summer days. The patio can be accessed directly from the front of the property, so those wet surfing boards or bikes can be stored safely. The level of detail in this, must see, property is perhaps best demonstrated in the simple but thoughtful use of the same key for gaining access to the house itself or the sheltered patio area

Off the patio area we have a large storage area which has a radiator and can be used for storing and drying your wet golfing gear, wet suits etc.

Cul Na Scoile is a property you will want to call Home.
